A Description of my work:
Here is a description of some of the activities I have carried
out with various organizations.
- NewEnergy
- Tehi Ka Tum Organization
- Jayuir Foundation
- Francisco Ríos Consultores
In NewEnergy, I was on contract from November 2002 to February
2004 as Environmental Officer. In this position, I developed
various field and administrative activities, among which was an Environmental
Evaluation of the Water and Sanitation, Renewable Energy and
Micro-Enterprise Development programs. I also undertook the
design of a research proposal for the development of plan for the
sustainable management of the Dakar River watershed in northern
Ghana.
In addition, I served as a member of the management team,
developed a system for the collection of statistical information and
information on construction activities in rural areas, and I helped
to develop the capacity of the organization's employees in various
software packages.
I was one of the founding members of Tehi ka Tum Organization,
and am currently serving on the Board of Directors and as an advisor
to the organization's community animation and training
activities. I was part of the group that gave life to the
organization and participated in the activities that kicked off of
the educational program. I also helped with the development of
curriculum based on the promotion of values. I am currently
treasurer on the Board of Directors.
My work with the Jayuir
Foundation included regular consultations with
members of the Wayuu people, aimed at promoting social development,
especially in the field of education; documentation of the
Foundation's projects; and other administrative activities,
including development of database for collecting statistics of the
organization's activities.
In addition, during my time with the Jayuir
Foundation, I acted as a tutor of SAT (Sistema de Aprendizaje
Tutorial - Tutorial Learning System), which is a program of
integrated secondary education. The work carried out as a tutor
included guidance to study groups, the majority of whom were from rural
and/or marginal areas, through the educational program. Also, I
trained primary teachers in the teaching of values (using material from
the Ruhi Institute), and taught specific courses in the sciences and
mathematics and participated in monitoring and evaluation of the
activities being carried out in rural areas.
In March 2002 I received a contract from
Francisco Rios Consultants to carry out, as a team member, work research
on "Solid Waste Management in the 15 Municipalities of the
Department of the Guajira".
This work was characterized by frequent
visits to the 15 municipalities in the Department to take field data
about the solid domestic and hospital waste management, to identify the
impacts of the management systems in use, to do surveys in the
population to support the field data and to consult with the authorities
in charge of these systems in each municipality.
