Environment Assessment &
Assessment of Sanitation Systems
When carrying out environmental assessments of
projects - whether on-going or completed projects - the use of integrated approaches
is very important. Reductionist approaches typically lead to very narrow and
limited conclusions. Our approach, on the other hand, is to take into
account the full complexity of factors that influence human-environment
relationships: social factors, cultural factors, economic factors and
environmental factors.
Our experience fall mainly into the following areas:
the assessment the impact of both on-site and
centralized sewage sanitation systems on some natural and anthropogenic systems;
in the evaluation of pipe born water systems, solid waste management systems
and management of abattoirs and in the possible impacts of ground water exploitation. Our evaluation works is
directed to both the
environmental sustainability and the social sustainability of the systems or
projects studied.
One of our recent projects was
for DESALUD in the Department of the Guajira,
Colombia.
